ADVANTAGES OF CONTACTS: contact lenses are more convenient because they do not become smoky in humid conditions and they stay in place during sports (especially in contactsports such as football / basketball / volleyball). From an aesthetic point of view the withdrawal of glasses usually means a major and favorable change in look. This is, especially for girls, an important argument to choose contact lenses. The visual field is larger with contact lenses. Some refractive eyeproblems are better corrected with a contact lens: nearsightness or farsightness for more than 8 or -8, irregular astigmatism, difference between the two lenses for more than 3 diopters. In these cases health insurance reimbursement is provided.
DISADVANTAGES OF CONTACTS: Maintenance takes time and costs money. One should also say that this problem is solved with month lenses: Maintenance is cheppr and even redundant. Therefore this type of lenses is used most frequently. The competition between different manufacturers, makes that the purchase price is very sharp, so that monthly lenses are even cheaper than yearly lenses.
Today we dare to go one step further: use of night&day lenses. The maintenance can be fully omitted. The lenses are a bit more expensive (25 € / months), but much safer than before. You will forget that you need corrective glasses. If desired, night &day lenses can be combined with conventional lenses: you can use night&day lenses for 14 days or for 1 month: carefree holiday !

CAN ANYONE WEAR CONTACT LENSES? The best patients are those who are pure myopic (who have negative glasses). Astigmatism (cylinder of more than 1.5) and hyperopia (positive glasses) is less ideal. People with severe forms of allergy ( hayfever) can have eyes that are too sensitive to wear contact lenses. However, it must be tried individually. For those people care systems without conservation products are recommended. Night& day lenses are less recommended, except for disabled (physically or visually). There are some lenses, you can wear sometimes night&day ! These lenses are a good alternatieve and cost less.
