Market research, performed in several countries, shows that the percentage wearers, interested in day and night wear is high: 54% in Germany, 70% in the U.S. Until 1999 this was not possible on a safe manner. There was a particular problem with the oxygen supply to the cornea (=the front part of the eye). The cornea actually gets its oxygen from the air and the lens is a barrier. For the human eye, the minimum oxygen patency (technically "Dk / L") is 35 for the open eye and 125 for the closed eye. Previously we had only very thin lenses or lenses with a very high water content. They were not really safe. Furthermore, they were very brittle and difficult to contribute to dry eyes (the high water content, they sucked the water from the eye and the eyes were still drier). Since 1999, we finally found safe day and night lenses! The ultimate lens is hereby Air Optix Night & Day, With a DK/l of 175!

BENEFITS OF DAY&NIGHT LENSES:

Low water content: the lens is less fragile. You won't get a dry feeling because the lens absorbs no more water from the eye

CAN EVERYONE WERE THESE LENSES?
It can and should be tried individually. Best first learn the standard lenses (usually monthly lenses) manipulation. After 6 months you can try day and night lenses, with the following restrictions:
- The wearer must check his eyes each morning (the eyes should look good and feel good and you also need good vision).
- The wearer must immediately remove the lens when problems appear (redness / pus / irritation / increased light sensitivity / blurred vision). Contact us when these problems continue. In any case: never sleep with a lens that is not comfortable!
- Beginning wearers: After 1 week the fitting of the lens should be evaluated. You will have to take the lens out so we can evaluate the eye health with the microscope. The wear-schedule will determined based on the results (up to 30 nights continuous wear is possible).
- Use swimming goggles when you go to swim!
- After 1 month you have to replace the lenses, between you have to let the lenses out for 1 night.
