Ski Goggles

Winter Athletes devote significant time and money prior to their choice of outfit: the coolest snowboards, the best skis, boots beautiful, hot and trendy clothes, ... Even a sunscreen with a high factor part of their standard equipment. Unfortunately, a good many sunglasses bottom of the list. Whether you go skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, hiking or just enjoying a nice stroll or virtue doing après-ski: a good pair of sunglasses is not a luxury on your ski, contrary ... Who says winter, says Sun And let's face it: the human body needs sunlight to vitamin D synthesis. Well-dose UV radiation is essential, however large amounts are harmful. Extra beschermind is necessary if we expose ourselves to the sun in the mountains. Winter athletes usually know that UV rays can damage their skin, but do not always consider their equally sensitive eyes. They cover themselves in it with a good sunscreen, but forget to set a good sunglasses. And it is not wise.

DAMAGE:

In the mountains, the burden of increased UV radiation. Now, many UV rays cause damage to the eye surface. More than 99% of UV rays through the front parts of the eye absorbed, but some of it reaches the light sensitive retina. Scientific research shows that when the eye absorbs UV rays, that people of a certain age can lead to changes in the eye and everyone eventually even to many eye diseases such as cataract, conjunctivitis, eye inflammation, edema, pinguecula, pterygium , corneal degeneration and age-related macular degeneration. Photokeratitis or snow blindness can even screw up once the winter. It is a form of skin inflammation hearing, where the outer layer (epithelium) of the transparent part of the eye (cornea) by the ultraviolet radiation damage. This very painful and sudden illness emerges several hours after exposure of the eyes to the sun. Snow blindness is easily recognized by the tears of the eyes, photophobia, involuntary contractions of the muscles of the eyelids and the feeling that something is in the eye. Photokeratitis is happy and usually easily cured with no consequences. It is true that the eye damage by UV rays is cumulative.

PROTECT:

Good sunglasses protect the eyes against the above mentioned risks sufficiently. But there's more. Sunglasses also prevents glare from bright sunlight. This can help to show it looks less sharp and can cause certain symptoms, such as burning eyes and headaches. Without goggles, you can also experience dryness of eyes and watering viewers. Goggles course also protects the delicate skin around the eyes from the harmful effects of UV rays. Since this skin is very thin, this is not a luxury. Goggles prevents snow, ice particles and snowflakes in your eyes if you end up at a high speed descent occurs, the probability of damage to the retina. And the real daredevils 'off piste' to glide, run the risk of twigs in the face hit. And last but not least: who looks good on the ski slopes with a good ski mask, also brings others into danger unnecessarily.
Better sunglasses is usually sufficient when the weather is optimal. What are the requirements:

HIGH-GRADE UV-FILTER: Colored glass reduce the harmful rays (especially ultra-violet ( "UV")), but not eliminate them. So they can still invade the eye, even more than before because the pupil remains relatively high, the intensity decreased. The harmful rays provide short-term irritant inflammatory phenomena (such as sunburn thv skin), especially if the radiation is present in excess (at altitude / in an area with snow or water) and intake of psoralens for psoriasis. In the long term gives UV lens clouding (cataracts). This gives us all sooner or later. A good pair of sunglasses or clip can probably postpone. This can be solved with invisible ultraviolet filters. This is variable in quality: What percent is filtered and what wavelength? Good is: 100% filter to a wavelength of 310 nm).

PHOTO CHROMATIC: The glass is prepared by the dark or light intensity, and this silver made by the glass (UV radiation causes the substance put small silver particles, the glass dark colors). That way less effort to summon your eye to protect themselves against the light (normally done by making it smaller or larger the pupil, as the operation of a camera aperture). Thus, your eye is less tired. The rate of change between dark and ready is very important, because the constantly changing light intensity (or to enter when the sun disappears). A good photo chromatic glass has about 30 seconds needed to be dark and about 2 minutes to half needed to be ready. Thus you no longer need half glasses, which is like sunglasses! Because the car windows blocking ultraviolet light, discoloring the glass by driving less, although (in practice no problem).

BLUE FILTER (the uniqueness of the Serengeti sunglasses): Blue light refracts more than the other wavelengths the human eye. This makes it a focal point of blue light on the retina and not on the retina, so it appears fuzzier. This leads to the typical blue haze around objects in bright light (sun and snow), but also in foggy conditions (blue light in those circumstances is strongly reflected). Brown with orange-colored (amber) glass that can filter out blue light and thus eliminate the haze. This leads to contrast enhancement. This may help in foggy days ( "jour blanc"), because you see little details (you do not see the bumps on the piste!)

MASKS:
Is it the snow is cold or wind, which is a Ski Masks (like a mask) a strong recommended, especially if you wear glasses. Best take a mask with an orange appearance, because this is the complementary colors blue uitfilterd, some contrast is increasing (see above: "blue filter). In bright sunlight is not so good. There are masks with different design filter (orange or yellow for fog / brown for Sun)
A good mask bedampt little because there is adequate ventilation along side arm. Take it a good anti-vapor into product (eg an anti-stick vapor) for protection against disruptive growth going.

 EXTRA TIPS
  • Eye drops (artificial tears or inflammatory) to eye irritation from sun, wind and cold absorb!
  • A small telescope will appreciate your views and to look natural!
  • Contact lens wearers can rely on day and night lenses, if they look up to the lens manipulations in less optimal conditions (eg camping in cabins)
  • Watch your diet! Do not be tempted to smoke, alcohol and high fat meals. You'll feel much better with a Mediterranean diet, with emphasis on fruit and vegetables. Even your eyes are thus ultimately better off. Not so much carrots, dark leafy vegetables but is required (such as spinach) to your eye condition.
  • Today there are ski goggles that can change lenses: dark where much sun / orange or yellow in fog
  • Sunglasses exist today in many forms. Take the glasses not too small otherwise you enough side view
  • Glare can be removed with polaroid sun glasses
  • Children have a really good goggles required
  • Buy your goggles before. It is a sin to your vacation time to spend on the purchase of goggles
