STRABISMUS

STRABISMUS = SQUINT

It is a frequent disorder (4%), characterized by a disturbance in the functioning of the muscle, allowing the eye to move. Thus, the brains are not entitled to keep both eyes simultaneously (the control of the eyes goes wrong). Strabismus is always a problem of both eyes together, even though it is always the same eye (ie the worse eye) in the corner! Up to 9 months babies may occasionally strabismus, then no more!

- POSSIBLE CAUSES:

Strabismus is frequently genetically determined to the extent that if one of the parents strabismus, their children almost certainly will squint. If the disorder in the muscle co-expressed, it is strabismus present from birth. If the muscle is disturbed less cooperation, there is a strabismus later (usually between the ages of 2 to 3 j) n.al.v a weakening of the general condition (eg illness) or when the child will read more. Diseases or accidents (eg hard and preterm delivery) which can sometimes cause muscle paralysis squint occurs. In sighted eyes (goggles problems (especially hyperopia), scarring in the eye n.al.v made by diseases, possibly during pregnancy) have brains no reason for the impaired eye straight. - CONSEQUENCES:

First and foremost esthetic (the association with mental disorders has led to a remarkable contemptuous attitude of our society). Lack of exercise leads to poor visibility of the squinting eye ("a lazy eye") and less depth perception. By an accident to the only good eye, such patients can become very impaired. Squinting occures sometimes headache and fatigue, especially in later life was! Sometimes it can also double vision or events!
