  • THE LACRIMAL GLAND MAKES TEARS, THAT FLOW THROUGH THE LACRIMAL CANALS TO THE LACRIMAL SAC

  • TEAR GLAND AND LACRIMAL SAC : REALISTIC PRESENTATION

  • IN NEWBORNS THERE CAN BE AN OBSTRUCTION IN THE LACRIMAL SAC, THAT MUST BE PROBED IF IT PERSIST AFTER 6 MONTHS

TEARROAD SONDAGE

Piercing the remaining membrane on the leve of  the passage tearsac-nose - this occurs along the upper tearroad

PRACTICAL ARRANGEMENTS:

-1 week in advance antibiotic drops ( Trafloxal / Tobrex / Chloramfenicol ...) + tearsac massage

-You have to be present on 7 H 45 sober !  via the reception of the clinic (last bottle at latest at midnight)

-Review of the pediatrician of your choice or bring the questionnaire

-Around 8h30 h your child wil get the sondage under mask-anestesia (=very light general anestesia)

-Around 9h your child wil come back in the chamber. You mag give a bottle of milk. Best bring your usual mild products!

-Around 10 H30 you can go home. You don't need to pay now. It is possible  that the doctor is still operating, and that he didin't come to see you after surgery. Still, you may leave and go home.

-As aftertreatment you have to give Deicol drops 4 X /day and tearsac massage with every care (best give the massage first and then the eyedrops!!!)

-Checkup after 1 week

  AFTERWARDS:

Regular tearsacmassage during 1 monts (each time you change diapers) and eventual also a drop antibiotics (such as Tobrex, Trafloxal of chloramfenicol) when you see pus in the eye:  1 bottle 4 to 6 X a day during 1 week - 10 days. It's recommended to take a little brake. When the pus comes back, then start with the second bottle.

You also have to take good care of the nose while your child has a cold: first clean the nose with saltdrops: "physiologic serum". Eventual use Otrivine nosedrops, if the nose is closed down by a cold . Ask your general practitioner quicker antibiotics in this case, because a long lasting cold will let the hole heal up!
